HONOURABLE MENTION FROM WRITE ON ISSUE 53
BY MIA JOHNSON, YEAR 6, GOVERNORS BAY SCHOOL
Last night Winter visited us
she tripped and left her veil
all over the school
She covered the slides with her grey paint
She tore apart Summer like
a piece of paper
She flies under our doors
and makes the room cold until
the heater turns on
And slowly but surely
it melts her away
This poem is a part of the Honourable Mention series, for those pieces of writing submitted to Write On Issue 53 (Summer 2019/2020) that we couldn't quite fit into the magazine.
Every Friday our Write On tutor and writer, Melanie Dixon, guides young writers at Governors Bay School.
